Robert A. Brooks, 99, of Wallace, Mich. formerly of Waukegan and Zion, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at River Breeze Adult Care in Wallace, Mich. He was born June 26, 1918 in Zion, IL to the late Ross and Marie (Stocker) Brooks. He married his wife, Eleanor Lossman, in Waukegan, IL in 1940, she preceded him in death in 2017. Robert served in the Army Infantry during World War II in Belgium and Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. His working life was spent owning and operating a barber shop on Water Street in Waukegan “Bob’s Barber Shop”. After retiring he and Eleanor spent 18 years living in Florida during the winters. They moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2005. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, square dancing and traveling.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor, a sister, 2 brothers Walter and Roy Brooks, and his son Robert R. Brooks. Robert is survived by his daughter Bonnie Brooks and her husband Lewis Peeples of El Paso, Tx; grandson, Ross Brooks of Milwaukee, Wis; and daughter-in-law Jill Brooks of Old Mill Creek, IL.
Per Robert’s request there will be no funeral services. Anderson-Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family.
